On the lookout for the best coffee in Dunshaughlin?
Anyone familiar with our café here in Dunshaughlin will know just how seriously we take our coffee. In fact, we take it so seriously that we’ve an entire page on our website dedicated to our coffee and where we source it.
There is an entire science behind what makes a great cup of coffee, with countless thousands of articles having been published online relating to it. Most of us love coffee, the taste, the smell, everything, but here at Plate & Palette we’ve decided to take things a little further and find out exactly what it is that makes coffee so appealing to our taste buds.
To begin with, choosing the highest quality coffee beans is not only the first, but perhaps the most important element. At our café, we source our beans from a nearby Dunboyne based company called Coffee Perfection. As their names suggests, their beans are pretty much perfect. When it comes to coffee beans, there are various flavor profiles available, such as Arabica or Robusta. The good news here is that there is no right and wrong answer when it comes to coffee beans, instead it simply comes down to a matter of personal preference. Each distinct coffee bean has it’s only unique characteristics. For example, Arabica beans tend to be sweeter in nature, making them exceptionally popular and versatile not only in Ireland but worldwide. On the other hand, Robusta beans are often more bitter in taste, offering a flavor that comes with a little more depth and body. There is also a difference between these beans in terms of their caffeine content. In this case, Robusta beans tend to have a slightly higher caffeine concentration.
Another key component of creating the perfect cup of coffee is the roasting of the coffee itself. Thankfully, when it comes to this aspect, we can again rely on our suppliers Coffee Perfection to provide expertly roasted coffee beans which are perfect for every cup we brew.
This leads us nicely on to the next part of the process for serving up the perfect coffee. The Grind. Before we can serve our creamy cappuccino or luxurious latte, we first have to make sure that we get the grinding process absolutely right. No shortcuts. In order to make the perfect espresso, our baristas must make sure our coffee beans are ground as finely and consistently as possible. This often requires slight adjustments made to the coffee grinder. Thankfully, our baristas here at Plate & Palette are the best in the business, so this process comes as second nature.
Once we’ve reached this stage, there is only one thing left for us to do. Pour the espresso, and serve. By ensuring our espresso is perfect every time, we can then get creative with our iced coffees, flat whites, or whatever you’re having yourself. Once we’ve reached this stage, this is where you come in.
